Adventures on the train

So yesterday I attempted to go somewhere new. However I didn't plan my trip very well, and therefore spent a lot of time on various train platforms waiting. By the time I got to where I was going, it was getting late and I was tired, so I only stayed for about an hour and a half, and then got the train back.

On the way back, this screaming child was banging the bathroom door open and closed. While his mother half-heartedly (and ineffectually) tried to stop him. He wasn't really listening. This young guy looked over, smiled, and shook his head at the kid, gently but firmly. The little kid got so scared that he went away and never touched the door again. I had to cover my mouth because I was smiling. It was seriously the awesomest thing I'd ever seen. Although the mom was probably kind of embarrassed, this 20 something year old guy accomplished in one second what she'd been trying to do for 5 minutes.

did the guy look like a thug? or maybe a sex offender? cause that would set me straight.

nope, he was clean cut and normal as could be. The only thing out of the ordinary was that he was hanging out with a bunch of girls. Although I don't think they seemed like super close friends. Among them was a super butch lesbian who everyone called 老公. Of all the girls, he seemed closest to her. And he also seemed to be consuming a lot of the groups' candy. Much to the (possibly) mock annoyance of his companions.

Clearly I was quite bored on this train ride.

Sometimes directions from strangers make a bigger impression than half-hearted admonitions from a parent. Plus maybe the kid knew there were no consequences for ignoring his mom. Actually, even when I smile in a friendly way I occasionally terrify a random kid or two. Who knows what's going on in their little heads?

Kids are way more afraid of strangers than their parents. You know what it takes to set your mom over the edge, but you never quite know if that woman in the grocery store or that man on the train is going to murder you if you do whatever it is you're doing one more time.

Hell I wanted to murder him. He banged the bathroom door open and closed while screaming at the top of his lungs!
