Heh. Trade you for mine. People here can't drive, so getting to and from work is an exciting game of 'who's going to try to kill me today?' And I can hardly remember a drive home when I didn't get passed by sirens on the freeway (thankfully, generally going in the other direction).

Oy. Speaking of driving... my car's transmission crapped out completely, so I'm going to be carless pretty much until I get back from the trip, at least, and I have to find a way to magic up $1800. Isn't that fun?

educator, um, thank you. I'm not sure how you found it, but I'm glad you like it.

mag, good luck with your car troubles. it's hard to get around in your town without one I know.

.. yeah. It's an adventure, to say the least. But thankfully we'll be out of town next week, and they say they can have it fixed by then... (and if they don't, well, at least we'll have one car again). Now I just have to figure out how to pay for it.

People keep pointing out that I could probably just buy a new car for what it's going to cost me, but a) that feels wasteful, and b) no car I'd actually want to buy would cost that much. (People were actually suggesting using the money as a down payment on a car, which made me wince, because the last thing I need right now is another monthly bill...)
